Meo Design Suites & Spa
"Meo Design Suites & Spa is not just an interior renovation project but a manifesto of how I conceive interventions in historic buildings. I could never have reasoned in a logic of simple restoration of environments as if centuries hadn't passed and the world hadn't had radically changed since they were originally built. This is not the approach that interests me. Even reproducing the past, compressing it or deforming it into spurious new forms makes no sense to me: it's just disrespect. I therefore decided, to create a completely new environment that draws its design strength from contemporary expressiveness. Linearity and simplicity are in fact the inspiring pillars. At Meo the exterior and interior therefore enter into harmony not by analogy but by contrast. clear distance as a form of respect for something that was but is no longer there. A way to celebrate what we were and, at the same time, to tell about intimacy in the intimacy of the interior who we are today".
